On behalf of the organizing and scientific committees, it gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 4th Asia Pacific Conference on Public Health 2015 in Kuantan, Malaysia. This conference starts on Monday 7 September and concludes on Wednesday 9 September 2015. This conference is being organized by the College of Public Health Medicine, Academy of Medicine Malaysia and is supported by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

This conference will focus on the many facets of Public Health in different parts of Asia Pacific. This year's conference on "Fostering Innovation in Tackling Double Burden of Disease" highlights the importance of innovation in advancing the health of the public, specifically, innovations that may reduce the burden of disease due to both communicable and non-communicable disease. In addition, the conference also explores how environmental and global changes affect health.

This conference brings together, from all over the world, an estimated 800 professionals involved in Public Health to assess the current evidence of innovative public health interventions.

The conference will take place in a truly global spirit, accommodating contributions from all parts of the world and in particular, the Asia Pacific Region. It will take stock of the situation, assess the state of research, propose action and map strategies for new innovations and initiatives toward further success in the field of Public Health.

The organizing and scientific committees are working diligently to ensure a successful conference of high quality. The program features many renowned speakers with diverse public health expertise from all parts of the world and in particular, the Asia Pacific Region. Public health needs to continue innovating to ensure better health of future populations.

The Scientific Committer invite abstract submissions for oral and poster presentation. The guidelines for submission of abstracts for both oral and poster presentations are as follows:

Instructions to Authors:

  • All abstracts must be submitted by electronic mail (e-mail) to dr_rampal1@hotmail with the following subject: Abstract submission. The filename of the abstract should be the full name of the presenter.
  • The conference is in English, all abstract should be in English. Abstract text (including title) should not exceed 300 words.
  • State author name(s) in full. Place an asterisk (*) after the name of the presenter. Omit degrees and titles. The institutional affiliations, city and country should be listed under the authors.
  • The abstract should have the following headings: Title, Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. It should be proof-read for grammar and spelling. Provide 3 to 5 key words. Do not submit any attachments, slides, or any reference materials with the abstract.
  • Type the abstract single-spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font size. Do not use script or italics type. Use Arabic numerals for all numbers except at the beginning of a sentence where they should be written out.
  • Use standard abbreviations and symbols. Keep abbreviations to a minimum and define each one when it is used for the first time.
  • Abstracts cannot be modified once they have been submitted.
  • The deadline for abstract submissions is 1 August 2015.
  • Receipt of abstracts will be acknowledged by email.

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to select the abstracts. Accepted papers will be allocated either to oral presentations or to poster sessions. Authors will be notified of abstract acceptance by email.

Avoid the following errors in writing abstracts

  • A descriptive rather than a conclusive abstract title; for example, "Sex modifies the relationship of age and metabolic syndrome" compared with "Prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome and it's associations with known risk factors".
  • Failure to state the objectives or research questions
  • Failure to describe the design and methods.
  • Failure to state a conclusion.
  • Excessive use of abbreviations. All but the most standard abbreviations should be defined and most abstracts should have < 3 abbreviations.
